DEPOSIT – After a strong finish to the 2023 regular season, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats baseball team faced Deposit-Hancock, the defending Class D champions. In a high scoring affair, Deposit-Hancock defeat B-G 15-11 in the first round of the MAC playoffs.
The game was tied at 11 and went into extra innings. The Eagles scored four runs in the bottom of the eighth to win the game off a grand-slam.
The Bobcats took an early 5-0 lead after scoring three runs in the second inning and two in the top of the third. Nolan Hawkins drove in an RBI single to get B-G started before two runs came in on balks by the opposing pitcher. Connor Davy hit an RBI double to add on in the third while Hawkins had his second RBI with a groundout.
Deposit-Hancock answered back in the bottom half of the third inning with two runs before the game turned into a back-and-forth contest. B-G scored five runs in the fifth inning to regain a two-run 11-9 lead, but its defense gave up the tying runs in the sixth inning to send the game into extras.
Aside from Nolan Hawkins, B-G’s Julian Pruskowski and Kaiden Seymour also drove in two runs in five plate appearances. Pruskowski had an RBI double in the fifth inning. Damon Seymour, Connor Davy, Gavin Gifford, Ethan Beames, and Tim Kinter all had two of B-G’s 12 hits.
Hawkins and Kaiden Seymour pitched for the Bobcats. Hawkins went 6.2 innings, striking out six batters while Seymour finished in relief.
It looks like B-G will face Afton in a MAC consolation game this afternoon at 4:30 p.m.

FLAG FOOTBALL:
Norwich remain undefeated with a big 67-22 victory over Sus Valley. Emma Urgo scored four touchdowns to help the Purple Tornado improve to 6-0 on the season.
