Local School Districts Voting Results Announced

CHENANGO COUNTY — Local school districts held their budget and Board of Education (BOE) voting with several schools announcing their results.

Afton Central School District

The Afton Central School District School budget resolution passed with 97 voting yes and 66 voting no. The bus resolution passed with 92 voting yes and 71 voting no. The Capital Reserve resolution passed with 106 voting yes and 57 voting no. The Capital Bus Reserve resolution passed with 91 voting yes and 72 voting no. Ex Officio Student BOE Member resolution passed with 115 voting yes and 48 voting no.

Elected to the Board of Education for a five year term was Justin Baciuska with 147 votes.

Bainbridge-Guilford Central School District

The Bainbridge-Guilford Central School District proposed budget of $22,655,474 with a tax levy calculation resulting in 1.85 percent passed with 197 voting yes and 56 voting no. Proposition #1 (Purchase of School Buses) passed with 195 voting yes and 57 voting no. Proposition #2 (School Library Proposition requested by trustees of the Bainbridge Free Library) passed with 181 voting yes and 71 voting no.

The BGCSD Board of Education elected John Gliha with 161 votes and Marek Rajner with 154 votes.

Timothy Suda received 125 votes.

Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School District

The Gilbertsville-Mount Upton Central School District Proposition #1 Proposed School Budget of $11,050,000 was passed with 86 voting yes and 20 voting no.

Proposition #2 Capital Reserve fund was passed with 87 voting yes and 19 voting no.

Proposition #3 Capital Project was passed with 80 voting yes and 26 voting no.

Board of Education election resulted in Jed Barnes with 94 votes and Christopher Ostrander with 89 votes. Both were elected to a three-year term commencing on July 1, 2023.

Greene Central School District

The Greene Central School budget was passed with 199 voting yes and 76 voting no.

Proposition #2 for transportation and Maintenance Vehicle purchase passed with 213 voting yes and 63 voting no. Proposition #3 for Moore Memorial Library passed with 213 voting yes and 62 voting no.

Board of Education members elected were: Emily Riggs with 155 votes, Doug Markham with 146 votes, Maria McKown with 100 votes, and Samantha Howe with 100 votes.

Norwich City School District

The Norwich City School District budget of $46,146,296 with tax cap of 1.98 percent was passed with 262 voting yes and 76 voting no. Proposition/Bond passed with 249 voting yes and 87 voting no.

Two NCSD Board of Education seats elected were Christopher Olds and new member Melissa Beers.

Otselic Valley Central School District

The Otselic Valley Central School budget passed with 97 voting yes and 31 voting no.

The Library Trustees are Dale (Suki) Fox, Terri For-Pessin, and Melinda Ramsey.

Board of Education member elected by write -in ballot will be announced pending their acceptance.

Oxford Academy & Central School District

The Oxford Academy & Central School budget results (155 poll voters, 28 absentee voters equal 183 total votes) budget was passed with 161 voting yes and 22 voting no.

Bus Purchase passed with 147 voting yes and 36 voting no.

Library budget was passed with 158 voting yes and 22 voting no.

School Board of Education election results were Julie Gates with 135 votes and Brian Sheridan with 85 votes.

The Library Board elected Michael Ford with 164 votes.

Sherburne-Earlville Central School District

The Sherburne-Earlville School District budget was passed with 647 voting yes and 201 voting no. The Transportation Proposition passed with 646 voting yes and 207 voting no. The Earlville Library Proposition passed with 646 voting yes and 201 voting no.

The Board of Education results were: Jerri Webb with 595 votes, Tina Baker with 560 votes, Harmon Hoff with 554 votes, Thomas Jusianiec with 327 votes, Michael Barone with 259 votes and Edward Potrzeba Jr. with 235 votes.

Unadilla Valley Central School District

The proposed $24 million budget with a 2.30 percent increase in expenditures was passed with a vote of 132 yes and 22 voting no.

The Proposition to lease four school buses passed by a vote of 138 yes to 16 no.

A funding proposal for South New Berlin Library passed with 49 yes votes to 5 no.

Three Board of Education incumbents running unopposed were re-elected; Victoria Gregory received 146 votes; Daniel Naughton with 137 votes and Richard Potter garnered 139 votes.
