OXFORD — The Oxford Farmers’ Market will launch its 10th Summer Season this Saturday, May 27, from 9 a.m. to noon in Lafayette Park, with everything needed for the perfect Memorial Day cookout. Delicious local beef, lamb and chicken, fresh baked brioche buns for burgers, local cheeses and greens. Everything to make a Chenango County resident proud to live in an agricultural community!
Since they first launched in 2014, the Market’s motto has been “fresh from your neighbors." Locally grown and produced food not only tastes better, but every purchase of a local product strengthens our local economy, connects us to our neighbors, and makes us more resilient.
Over 30 vendors this Saturday will be selling a wide variety of local plant starts and seeds for the garden; the very first of the available seasonal produce; dairy products and regional cheeses; locally-raised and processed beef, lamb, and chicken; artisanal breads and baked goods; locally-grown and milled grains and flours; herbs and teas; maple syrup and honey; hand-made soaps, lotions, lip balms and tinctures; homemade treats and toys for dogs; exquisitely hand-crafted items for the kitchen and home; and artisan fiber products from local producers.
In addition, local musicians will be back at the Market on a weekly basis with composer George Anderson opening the 2023 performance season. Anderson is known for his moodily bluesy instrumentals and slide technique. He plays a variety of acoustic, electric-acoustic, solid-body electric and Dobro guitars, as well as keyboards. All events at the Market are free and open to the public.
