NORWICH – The Youth Bureau will be offering ten different programs for area youths this summer. Programs will include cheer, soccer, flag football, tennis, pickleball, basketball, baseball, softball and new this year dance. All programs are free to area youths. Most programs are open to youths from 6 to 13 years of age.
The recreation programs will run from July 3 through August 10. All programs, except for Cheer and Dance, will take place from 12:30 to 3:30 at Weiler Park.
Dance is being offered by the Donna Frech School of Dance in Norwich two nights a week starting July 10th and running through August 1st. We are excited to partner with the Donna Frech School of Dance to offer dance lessons. Dance will be open to kids from 8 to 13 where they can learn two different styles of dance, jazz, and hip hop. Donna Sharp said “It is a combination of dance that provides for a fun learning experience and gives youths a chance to use their energy in a positive way. No previous experience is necessary.”
The Youth Bureau will also offer seven levels of Red Cross certified swimming instructions at Kurt Beyer Pool. Swimming lessons will be from 9:30 to 11:30 with the first session starting July 3rd. Lessons are open to anyone up to the age of twenty-one. Lessons are in the morning to have the pool open to the public at noon.
The Youth Bureau also has 6 summer trips plan for the year. Look for announcement regarding those coming out very soon.
All registrations will be online this year, making it easier for parents. Registrations can be found at the Youth Bureau’s Facebook page or through the City’s website: www.norwichnewyork.net/government/youth.php.
