NORWICH — The Amber Perkins dance recital ‘Take to the Open Road’ is taking place at 7 p.m June 9th and at 1 p.m. and 7 p.m. on June 10 located at 38-40 Birdsall Street at the Norwich High School. Tickets available at the door of the auditorium.
Perkins School of the Arts co-owner Mikey Perkins said, “The recital is going to be a lot of fun. Most of the dancers performing have been training since last summer. What we wanted to do this year was create a fun nostalgic, carefree feel and support the children to be confident and show their skills in a easy fun performance.”
Perkins explained that they created a 70’s feel to the stage and have a really cool prop to unveil at the recital shows. The songs are from POP to Nostalgic, and even a Flinstone’s theme song is incorporated into the list.
“We also have a new program for special needs kids. We want to be all inclusive and let everybody have the chance to enjoy dance and performing at all levels,” he added.
“Recently we won ‘Top Studio’ in New York State by scoring the highest by taking first place in all age categories,” said Perkins.
Perkins School of the Arts has 26 years experience and many dancers have gone on to dance professionally and some have opened their own dance studios. They offer classes for varying interests and skill set for both serious dancers and those that just want to have fun.
Classes available for sign up are: Ballet, Tap, Hip Hop, Jazz, Lyrical, Modern, Combo, Technique, Acro, Pre-dance, and Stretch.
