NORWICH — On June 18, 2023, New York State Police (NYSP) at Norwich arrested Joseph H. Walicke, age 58, of Binghamton, NY for the class “E” felony of Scheme to Defraud in the first degree, the class “E” felony of Grand Larceny in the fourth degree, and the misdemeanor of Falsifying Business Records in the second degree.

An investigation revealed that in late March, Walicke purchased black powder guns costing over $1,133 at Mayhoods Sporting Goods in Norwich. He paid for the items with a personal check. A few days later, he stopped payment purchase on the check. The investigation also revealed that he filed improper paperwork when purchasing the guns.

He was processed at SP Norwich and issued appearance tickets to the Norwich Town Court on July 13, 2023.
