NORWICH — The annual fireworks festivities known as “Fireworks Over the Fairgrounds,” will be held on Independence Day, July 4. Gates open at 3:30 p.m. at the Norwich fairgrounds.
Millennia Entertainment Event Coordinator Terry Potter said, “This years firework event include tractor pulls, food and craft vendors, and Nashville recording artist, Jason Michael Carrol will perform.”
Gates will open at 3:30 and music by Sundown starts at 4 p.m. Tractor pulls have expanded this year as we've added truck pulls to this years entertainment and will start at 6 p.m.
Potter said, “Nashville recording artist Jason Michael Carroll will perform many of his number one hits and will be on stage at 8 p.m. He came here about ten years ago and due to the reception of his previous show, we wanted to bring him back, so the timing was good and fit his schedule and it worked out this year. He has committed to coming up here for our event.”
Carroll's signing career started in 2004 when he joined a local country band and not long after entering a FOX competition and winning, he was making opening act appearances for such established country artists as Brad Paisley, Neal McCoy, and others.
His experiences led him to release his debut studio album in 2007 and in 2009, he had a hit single “Where I'm From”.
Tickets for the full day are free for children seven years old and under (Courtesy of Matthews Ford) or $15 for children over seven and adults if purchased by June 30.
Advance purchases are available now at Norwich Copies Plus on East Main Street in Norwich or at eventbrite.com. After June 30, Tickets will go up to $20.
"The price includes the gate fee, parking fees, tractor pulls, the music, and then the fireworks display,” Potter explained.
Fireworks Over the Fairgrounds is made possible by local event planning company Millennia Entertainment, who donates their services to put together a beloved community event, as well as several local sponsors.
Potter said, “We want to thank all of the generous sponsors that have stepped forward to make this possible for the community.”
"This is something that we like to do for the community,” said Potter. "It’s become an annual event that we want to keep the tradition going, and hopefully it becomes a destination for people outside of the area as well as the local community, and it becomes a nice event for all."
The fairgrounds parking lot fills quickly and off street parking will be available.
