“Our ‘Sixpence in Your Shoe’ exhibit is a place where timeless traditions meet the unique charm of local communities,” said CCHS Executive Director Jessica Moquin. “Thanks to the generosity of Live Event NY, this year’s Summer Barn Party will be a true celebration of these classic wedding traditions. We look forward to creating new memories that are rooted in shared love of our local heritage!”

Continuing a tradition established in 2019, the evening will feature honored guests who have the distinction of “Making History.” This year’s honorees are Del and Betty Law of Sherburne, who have been married for more than 65 years, and whose wedding gown and suit are featured in the “Sixpence in Your Shoe” exhibit.

Summer Barn Party guests will have the opportunity to enter the “Bandana Bouquet” raffle toss, including a vintage cut-glass vase, fresh hanging floral arrangement from Pires Flower Basket, Blanc de Bleu Brut from Denny’s Wine and Liquor, and an authentic British sixpence along with an Elle Collection necklace from McNeil Jewelers.

The ultimate way to enjoy a summer evening, the Summer Barn Party is a major fundraiser for CCHS, attracting more than 100 community supporters each year. Event proceeds support a significant portion of the organization’s annual operating budget. Event Day tickets are $50 each and will be available beginning at 5:30 p.m.

First established in 1939, CCHS is the primary organization dedicated to actively and comprehensively preserving the history of Chenango County. The area’s premier heritage museum, the organization celebrates local culture – unique traditions, noteworthy residents, and unusual stories of the region.

CCHS programs are made possible by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
