GUILFORD — The United Presbyterian Church in East Guilford is holding their summer worship services outside, weather permitting, during July and August at 9 a.m. Bring a lawn chair to sit by the gazebo or sit in your car listening on the radio.

For those sitting outside, please park near the road so people remaining in their car can park closer. An umbrella or hat might be useful for sitting out on sunny or hot days.

Coffee and pastries will be provided prior to the service on July 9 and 16 through a sponsorship by the Trackside Diner, Main Street, and Club 55, Union Street, of Sidney. Please bring your favorite coffee mug to reduce our environmental impact as the church in East Guilford is a certified Earth Care Congregation through PCUSA.

During the summer there will be no remote worship options, so please join us in person.

The church began this tradition in the 70s and continues to enjoy worshipping outdoors during the summer months when possible. For several years, the service was broadcast with speakers and using recorded music for the hymns. In the early 2000s, a radio transmitter was used with a portable piano for live music, which is continuing today.
