BAINBRIDGE – The Bainbridge-Guilford Thunder PONY League team hosted Oxford on Tuesday evening, where they held on to win 3-2. Due to some League discrepancies, B-G’s previous wins, before defeating Sherburne last Tuesday, were forfeited. This game marked the Thunder’s second win, putting them ahead of Whitney Point for fourth place in the standings.
After a scoreless first inning, B-G got on the board in the bottom of the second as Davis Barnard drove in a run on an RBI double. The score remained 1-0 until B-G added two more runs in the fifth inning. Kaiden Seymour drove in a pair on a deep ball to left field to make it 3-0 Thunder, which ended up being the game-winning play.
Oxford answered and fought back in the top of the sixth inning, scoring two runs. Conner Dunagan singled off Kaiden Seymour, who replaced Timmy Kinter, before stealing second and scoring off Landen Olinski’s RBI double. Olinski scored on the very next play as Nic Dodzweit singled on the first pitch he saw. Dodzweit failed to score the game-tying run.
Oxford had another chance to tie the game in the top of the seventh inning as Adam Beckwith reached on a walk and got into scoring position with a stolen base. However, the next three Blackhawks batters got out, where two of the three had good at-bats with hard hit line drives that ended up being caught.
