SHERBURNE — This summer and fall, Shako:wi Story Walks will take place at Rogers Center. On July 29 and October 7, Cultural Programs Coordinator for the Oneida Indian Nation, Jessica Farmer, will lead program participants on a guided hike and storytelling adventure.

The legends and lore of the Haudenosaunee people will be brought to life through her stories and natural interpretation of the many landscapes and species at Rogers Center. This event is provided for free to the public, thanks to the Oneida Indian Nation.

Taking place from 10:30 a.m. until 12:45 p.m., these Story Walks will be divided into two parts to serve as wide an audience as possible. The first hike will make use of Farm Tower Trail, followed by a walk around Channels Marsh.

“Haudenosaunee legends and lore are seen and experienced all throughout our natural world. As we walk the trails of Rogers Environmental Education Center, hikers will hear our tales and learn traditional Haudenosaunee values through the art of storytelling,” said Jessica Farmer.
