CHENANGO COUNTY — Chenango County 4-H and the Chenango County Youth Bureau have come together to sponsor a youth outdoor program series throughout the summer and early fall.
The program is open to Chenango County youth aged 10 to 19 years old, and features six outdoor programs at locations across the county.
"The goal is to have youth experience new activities and sports and find one, or more, that they enjoy and want to pursue on their own," said Chenango County 4-H Educator Erica Clark. "This is the second year of offering this program. We are hoping to continue it going forward, as the youth seem to enjoy and greatly benefit from getting outdoors. The current plan is to begin another cycle of outdoor programming beginning this October."
So far, Chenango County youth have enjoyed kayaking at Bowman Lake in Oxford and trail biking at Round Pond in Plymouth, but the outdoor adventures don't stop there.
From 4 to 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 23, youth can attend a fishing trip at Jackson Pond in Pharsalia. Those looking for excitement and adventure can attend the "Explorer! Map and Compass Games" at Norwich's Kurt Beyer Park from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 14.
