NORWICH — The Chenango Arts Council will be hosting an opening reception for a gallery titled "Fractures," showcasing the work of local photographer Timothy C. Brown. The reception will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Friday, August 18 at the Chenango Arts Council, located at 27 West Main Street in Norwich.
The gallery is free to attend, and refreshments will be provided by the Cottage Bakery. In addition to opening night, Brown's work will be on display until September 1.
"Typically we’ll have the artist, they are kind enough to do a kind of question and answer session about their work, about their inspiration, that kind of thing," said Chenango Arts Council Administrative Assistant Mary Beth Miller.
Brown's photography ranges in subject matter from portraits to nature, abstract, street, and experimental photography, although Brown said he enjoys taking pictures of "everything."
"I think anything can be interesting depending on the way you look at it, especially in photography. Just your vantage point can totally alter the reality of what someone’s looking at, and it’s just a straight photo, but the vantage point was like, how did you do that?" he said.
He also enjoys using a film camera and expired film to create unique and unexpected shots.
