Norwich Golf On A Roll, Defeats Oneonta

NORWICH – Coming off wins against Chenango Forks and Windsor, the Norwich Purple Tornado golf team came out on top 240-253 against STAC opponent Oneonta. Norwich picked up its third win of the season and is looking to keep its momentum up in upcoming matches next week.

Norwich’s Matthew Brunick led all golfers with a 44, marking the team’s third medalist in these three beginning matches. Jacob Dowdall and Jacob Morris were the other two players who led in the previous matches.

Coach David Branham complimented his team for showing its depth thus far into the season.

Jacob Morris finished behind Brunick with a 45 as Carmine Pastore got the nod in the starting six and shot a 49. Jacob Dowdall (50) and Julien Smith (52) wrapped up the scoring while Jackson Sastri received good playing time as the sixth golfer.

Oneonta’s golf scores ranged from a 46 to a 54, which was close, but Norwich held on.

Norwich (3-0) stays home to face Sus Valley on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
