GREENE – Coming off two tough losses on the road, the Greene Trojans field hockey team returned home to celebrate senior night. On the special night, Greene got back on track with a 3-1 win over Deposit/Hancock.
Prior to the start of the game, Greene honored its four seniors. Congratulations to Rhea Malmquist, Dakota LeBlanc, Harlee Montgomery, and goalkeeper Tatianna Wells for all your efforts and dedication to the field hockey program.
Greene pushed through in the final five minutes of the first quarter to score as Ahraya Whitt found a great chance off a pass from Josie Dutcher. She scored her first varsity goal to put the Trojans up 1-0.
Greene took their brief lead into halftime before Deposit tied it up with two minutes left in the third quarter. The fourth quarter came and the Trojans were confident that something would come through after receiving multiple penalty corners.
They were right as Claire Flanagan found a great opportunity to put the ball passed the Eagles goalkeeper. She would score again on the next offensive possession off a pass from Nadia Brown.
Tati Wells made seven saves in the Trojans’ victory.
Following the win, the Trojans all huddled up in celebration on a great win, especially on the special night.
Greene (2-2) has four straight games on the road over the next week before returning home to face Baldwinsville on September 23. Greene travels to Windsor on Wednesday at 7 p.m.
