Afton, Norwich And UV/GMU Cross County Compete At Forbes Invitational

ONEONTA –  On Saturday, Chenango County was well-represented at the Dave “Flash” Forbes Invitational held at Fortin Park in Oneonta. Afton/Harpursville/Bainbridge-Guilford, Norwich, and Unadilla Valley/Gilbertsville-Mount Upton all competed in the cross country run.

The Vestal boys earned first place while Delhi/South Kortright girls won with A/H/B-G coming in third place. UV/GMU boys finished 11th out of 16 total schools.

In the boys 5000 meter run, UV/GMU’s Noah Pain made the top 10 with a time of 18:18.80. Norwich’s Caden Sutton finished 19th in a time of 18:49.20 as Nic Sutton came in 31st (19.18.90) among tough competition.

Afton/Harpursville/B-G’s Ethne Degan paves the way for the girls in the 5000 meter run. She ran the fastest time of all female competitors and finished her run in 19:40.40. Teammate Maddie Ingham took ninth (22:17.20) and Vanessa Brazee finished in 19th place (24:18.10).

UV/GMU’s Andrea Favinger finished 16th in a field of 89 runners with a time of 23:42 as Norwich’s Annie Boland came in 26th with a time of 24.46.40. Kyra Brunick-Davis ran a time of 26.02.40 for 37th place for the Purple Tornado.

All teams will be in action this afternoon at Unadilla Valley at 4 p.m.
