Two Arrested For Robbery And Other Charges In Hancock

HANCOCK – On September 7, at around noon, New York State Police at Deposit assisted the Hancock Village Police Department with a robbery involving a weapon in the village of Hancock. 

An investigation revealed that Devin Smallwood, age 22 of Brooklyn, NY and Juan P. Diaz, age 23 of Brooklyn, NY, entered a residence and forcibly stole property from the victim while armed with a firearm. 

Both suspects fled from the scene and were ultimately taken into custody by Hancock Village Police and Troopers.  Both men have been charged with the following:

Burglary in the first degree, class “B” felony

Robbery in the first degree, class “B” felony

Criminal Use of a Firearm in the first degree, class “B” felony

Robbery in the first degree, class “C” felony

Smallwood and Diaz were processed then transported to the Delaware County Jail for Centralized Arraignment. The suspects were familiar with the victim and there is believed to be no threat to the public.
