NEW BERLIN – On Tuesday, the UV/GMU cross country team hosted a cross country meet on the grounds of the Unadilla Valley school, featuring other local teams such as Norwich and Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville.
Delhi/South Kortright won the meet with both girls and boys teams earning victories. UV/GMU boys came in third place behind Sidney while BGAH took fourth. The BGAH girls came in third place behind Edmeston/Morris.
UV/GMU’s Noah Pain won the entire boys run over the 2.4 mile course. He finished the run in 13:50 while Norwich’s Caden Sutton was behind him in second (14:16). Nic Sutton came in fourth place for the Purple Tornado with a time of 15:02. Alex Kemnah finished sixth for the Storm with a time of 15:28.
The BGAH Bears girls team were led by Maddie Ingham in fifth place, only seconds away from better placement, as she finished with a time of 17:10. Teammate Vanessa Brazee came in ninth with a time of 18:10. Andrea Favringer, UV/GMU’s lone female runner, finished seventh with a time of 17:27.
All local teams will compete at Chenango Valley on Saturday in the McDaniel/Baxter Invitational.
