WALTON – Coming off a big win over Sidney, the Oxford Blackhawks volleyball team traveled to Walton. Walton defeated the Blackhawks 3-1.
Despite falling short, Oxford kept the sets very close. The first two sets were won by Walton with the first being close 27-25 as Oxford fought hard in the third to take the set 25-16. Walton, already with a strong start to the season, put the match away 25-15.
The Blackhawks were led by Ava Benjamin who racked up 35 assists, four aces, and one block. Quinnlin LaMonica finished with seven kills, four aces, five digs, and three blocks. Mya-Rae Roys had five kills and a block while Emmalee Reiss added two aces and five digs. Emerson LaMonica contributed with three aces in the loss.
Oxford (1-1) hosts Delhi on Tuesday at 6 p.m.

Oxford boys soccer falls to DeRuyter in a Section IV/Section III crossover. Donovan Rickard led the Blackhawks with two goals while Sam Hendricks and Gordon Smith pick up assists. Goalkeeper Kayden Renfrow makes 10 saves in the loss.
Bainbridge-Guilford boys soccer shuts out Delhi 7-0. The Bobcats were led by Ben Porter with three goals and Brock Porter with two assists. Blake Tuttle and Tyler Engel both score their first varsity goals, while Corbin Germund also netted one in.
