NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm girls soccer team is having a strong start of the 2023 season with only one loss in five games played. The Storm pushed through to defeat MAC league opponent Delhi 3-2 to continue their undefeated divisional record.

The game was tied 1-1 at halftime with goals by UV’s Shelby Rose and Delhi’s Eliza Cook. Shelby Rose’s goal came off a rebound within nine minutes of play while Delhi scored on a strange play with the goalkeeper pressured and the girl’s kick rolled in.

UV was not discouraged by this as they came out strong in the second half. Natalie Crandall hustled down the field to break up the tie, off a rebounded ball. Delhi, finding a way to put pressure on the Storm’s goalkeeper Kalie Fernandez-Naughton, slid one through to tie the game yet again.

The game would remain tied until Jaiden Schrag found some room and made her shot count in the final four minutes of play. Schrag’s goal ended up being the game-winner with Kalie and the Storm defense standing their ground.

UV (4-1) heads to Greene this evening at 5 p.m.
