HARPURSVILLE – After two straight wins, the Greene Trojans Field Hockey team rolled on with a 1-0 win in double overtime against MAC opponent Afton/Harpursville. Two teams that had seen success in the past clashed until the final two minutes of the second overtime period.
Greene’s Josie Dutcher has been the Trojans go-to for overtime game-winners and she came through once again. The Trojans were limited throughout the contest with just five shots on goal, but the one shot that went in was the play of the game.
Afton/Harpursville collected 13 shots on goal and earned 12 penalty corners, but Greene’s Braelyn Blakeslee and Tati Wells held their own with a combined 14 saves. The Crimson Knights’ Emilie Hopkins made three saves in the loss.
Greene improves to 5-3 on the season with an even 3-3 divisional record. Greene finally returns home from a four-game road trip when they host Baldwinsville on Saturday at 10 a.m.
Afton/Harpursville has only seen four games so far this season, where they are 2-2 overall and in the division. The Crimson Knights head to Deposit/Hancock on Friday at 4:30 p.m.
