NEW BERLIN — The Blessing of the Animals and pet parade will be held in appreciative recognition of the astounding services given to mankind by the animal kingdom from noon to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 7, located at 40 S. Main Street on the lawn of St. Andrew's Church.
Organizers said the service will be open to the entire community and will include a short multi-denominational blessing by three denominations; St. Andrew's Episcopal, St. Theresa's Catholic, and The United Methodist Church.
The Village of New Berlin Mayor Peter Lennon said the non-spiritual and purely recreational part of the event should start around 12:15 p.m.
According to the press release, animals of all kinds are welcome; be it furry, finned, scaled or feathered; big, small and in between, as long as they are properly leashed or crated, and including livestock.
Visitors are welcome to show off their pets in the parade; dressed up or not.
