VESTAL – After a hard loss to Horseheads, the Norwich Purple Tornado football team looked to bounce back on the road against Vestal. Unfortunately, the Tornado took a 35-15 loss, bringing them to 2-3 on the season.

The Purple Tornado, who looked to overcome hard injuries from last week, struggled in the first half before picking themselves up in the final two quarters. Vestal scored all 35 points in the first half before Norwich answered back.

Norwich came away with a safety in the third quarter with Vestal pinned deep in their own zone off an excellent punt by Spencer Root. Norwich received the ball and went on to score off a rushing touchdown by Josh Lindridge. Lindridge also handed the ball off in the fourth quarter to teammate Tiernan Lindsay, who scored the final Purple Tornado touchdown of the night.

Lindridge finished with 89 rushing yards to lead the team while Lindsay finished with 24 and Zach Turner rushed for 13 yards. Norwich was limited with 118 yards of offense, all rushing.

Norwich (2-3) hosts Owego this Friday for Homecoming at Ulrich Field at 7 p.m.
