OXFORD – The Oxford Memorial Library is gearing up for fall and the Oxtoberfest in particular.
On Saturday, October 7, we will be participating in the Oxford Oxtoberfest festivities with several activities. The library will be open all day from 9:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The annual Fall Book Sale will be held in the library’s community room. We don’t set prices on books, we just ask for a cash donation, the amount is up to you. Bring a big bag and stock up. People may also wander in and take self guided tours. If there is a staff member available they will be happy to show you around or answer any questions you may have. Bring the kids to our kids Carnival in the Fort Hill Park from 1:00-4:00 for lots of games, activities and prizes.
The Oxford Library is hosting a workshop called "Masks, Myth and Mime", with Barbara Gregson from Gregson Theater for seven weeks, from 3 to 5 p.m., starting on Tuesday, October 3.
Local teens and adults will be learning Renaissance mask making along with how to create a play and act it out through Mime. There will be a show on November 14th where they will present their creations to the public.
This project is made possible with public funds from the Statewide Community Regrants Program, a regrant program of the New York State Council of the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature, and administered by The Earlville Opera House. Call or stop by the library to register. Space is limited. The public is invited to attend the show on at 6 p.m., Tuesday, November 14 in the library’s community room.
We would like to remind everyone that Thursdays we have a morning story time at 10 a.m. for toddlers and preschoolers.
The first Thursday evening of each month is Family Story Time at 5:30. The Third Thursday of the month from 5:30 – 8:00 is Family game night. Bring your favorite board game and join us for an evening of fun. October will see the start-up for our afterschool programs. The fourth Friday of each month is Family Movie Night.
The Oxford library is looking for Home School Families. We would like to invite you to bring your family to our programs and plan special programs for those who home school. We would like to hear from you as to how we can serve you.
Call us at 607-843-6146 but better yet we invite everyone to stop by and pay us a visit.
