NEW BERLIN – The Unadilla Valley Storm girls soccer team hosted the Greene Trojans on senior night, coming away with the 5-0 shutout victory.
During halftime, the Storm honored the team’s five seniors, who all have contributed to the great success of the UV soccer program.
Congratulations Kalie Fernandez-Naughton, Brynn Grant, Jaiden Schrag, Bella Potter, and Phalen Hill for all your hard work and dedication.
The Storm took a 2-0 lead at halftime with goals from Gracie Gorrell off an assist by Natalya Schrag within the opening 30 seconds of the game. Jaiden Schrag scored off a pass from Natalie Crandall around 10 minutes later.
Schrag would find the net again to open the second half, after connecting with the ball throughout the entirety of the game.
Fellow Seniors Brynn Grant and Kalie Fernandez-Naughton also played hard to score on their special night, which both ladies covered the other in net to create these opportunities. Grant’s goal came off a pass from Myriah Taylor two minutes after Schrag’s second goal. Grant replaced Fernandez-Naughton in net, where Kalie finished off a successful night with a goal of her own within six minutes left in the game.
Jaiden Schrag also spent time in goal as well, where the three goalkeepers stood their ground, along with a powerful Storm defense to hold Greene without a shot on goal.
The Trojans received eight penalty corners while Molly Cornell made 12 saves in the loss.
UV improves to 9-2 on the season with a few regular scheduled games remaining. The Storm hosts Sidney on Tuesday at 4:30 p.m.
Greene drops to 1-8-1 and is looking to bounce back on Tuesday for senior night against Delhi. The game will start at 6:30 p.m.
