OXFORD - Singer Cliff Eberhardt and special guest Louise Mosrie Coombe will perform at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 14, at 6 On The Square in Oxford.

Eberhardt knew by age 7 that he was going to be a singer and songwriter. Growing up in Berwyn, Pennsylvania, he and his brothers sang together, and their parents played instruments. Living close to the Main Point (one of the top folk clubs on the East Coast), he received an early tutorial in acoustic music from James Taylor, Joni Mitchell, Bruce Springsteen, Howlin' Wolf, Muddy Waters, Bonnie Raitt, and Mississippi John Hurt. He also listened to pop songwriters like Cole Porter, the Gershwins, and Rodgers and Hart.

His latest album, 2021’s “Knew Things,” features 13 original songs (including a few from “The Heal”) that he produced in his home studio during the COVID-19 pandemic. He engineered, produced, arranged and played all the instruments himself. The album reached #4 on the Folk Alliance International's Folk Radio Chart.

Mosrie Coombe grew up in McEwen, Tenn., on a cattle farm, riding horses and writing poetry. She began writing songs after college while working in TV/radio in Knoxville. She moved back to the Nashville area in 2004 and began co-writing with country, bluegrass and folk artists.

She started writing songs about the South — what she knew and where she grew up. In 2008, she began working on a new album called “Home” that was a mix of bluegrass, country and folk. With those songs, she entered some song contests connected to festivals and ended up winning top awards at Kerrville Folk Festival, Wildflower Festival, Telluride Bluegrass Festival and Falcon Ridge Folk Festival. “Home” debuted at #1 on the Folk DJ chart in 2010.

Buoyed by her fans, Mosrie Coombe began touring all over the Eastern Seaboard, the South and Texas. She has played at The Bluebird Café in Nashville, Club Passim in Boston, Caffé Lena in Saratoga Springs, N.Y., and The Birchmere in Washington, D.C.

In 2012, her 15-year marriage ended, and her mother was diagnosed with brain cancer and died 6 months later. Out of those dark days came new songs that would be on her 2014 release, “Lay It Down.” For the album, she collaborated with Eberhardt.
