BINGHAMTON - The Norwich Purple Tornado football team traveled to Chenango Valley on Saturday, where they snapped a three-game losing streak with a big 49-6 victory.

Norwich's offense scored on seven of eight offensive drives while the defense held their own and only let up a score on the Warriors' final drive of the game.

Norwich was ecstatic to have quarterback Steven Dowdall return to the lineup, where he controlled a strong offense. Dowdall went 5-for-8 for 85 yards and threw two touchdown passes. Dowdall was also feeling good on his feet with 136 rushing yards for the team that has been without top rusher Holden Ryan.

Aside from Dowdall, Zach Turner led the run game with two touchdowns and two carries for 11 yards. Tiernan Lindsay continues to be a valuable asset as he picked up 32 yards and scored a touchdown.

Zack Parker started off the scoring as he received the hand-off from Dowdall for the 13 yard touchdown.

Richard Fuller led all receivers with three receptions for 46 yards as Colin Olds scored two touchdowns. One of Olds' touchdowns came from a recovered fumble that he landed on in the end zone to back up teammate Josh Lindridge while the other came off a 14 yard pass from Dowdall.

Kassen Stubbs also had one carry for Norwich on a 25 yard rushing touchdown.

The Purple Tornado defense recovered two fumbles and forced Chenango Valley to turnover on downs three times to put Norwich in good field position. Zavier Bucksbee led the defense with five tackles in the win.

Norwich (3-4) has two big games remaining in the regular season with the next game against a tough Windsor team on Friday at 7 p.m. before hosting Maine-Endwell the following week.
