CHENANGO COUNTY — The Agriculture, Building and Grounds Committee declared the Month of October to be Cooperative Extension and 4-H Youth Development Month in Chenango County.
October 1 through 7 was National 4-H Week and recognized the 4-H youth, leaders and volunteers commitment along with the new 4-H program year.
Cornell Cooperative Extension (CCE) 4-H Educator Erica Clark said, “4-H youth representative Elizabeth Vincent did an incredible job of sharing her personal 4-H history at the commemoration. She told the story of how she became involved with dairy cows. Her sister Macie just had a calf born over the weekend.”
“I’m also really excited about our program this weekend,” said Clark. “We are going to be at the UHS Senior Living Center in Norwich Hospital. I’m hoping to connect our youth with the seniors and to plan future events with them. I’m sure some of the seniors were in 4-H themselves.”
She explained the visit with the seniors will include painting pumpkins and invites anyone to join in to paint and meet the residents from 10 to 11 a.m. on Oct 21st.
