GREENE – The Trojans erased the memory of a flat performance against Trumansburg with what was perhaps their most complete game of the season.

The Trojans put up 33 points and 336 yards of offense in the first half alone in an intersectional rout of South Lewis on Friday night.

“I thought it was good for us to bounce back, and we played better on both sides of the ball,” said Trojans coach Dave Gorton. “Last week we struggled to tackle, and last night we tackled well. Definitely it was important to get off to a good start, and we did a good job of that.”

After a tepid start, one that Gorton equated to a pair of boxers feeling each other out for a round, the Trojans erupted for four second-quarter touchdowns.

Joel Vielandi matched a career-high with four touchdowns, the first one coming on a 52-yard TD reception from Jaden Eroshevich that gave Greene (4-3) a 6-0 lead after one period.

South Lewis helped Greene’s cause with multiple turnovers, and the host club obliged its Section III visitors with quick-strike scores.

Vielandi initiated the second-quarter scoring with a 78-yard scoring run. Eroshevich had a five-yard TD run of his own before Vielandi tacked on TDs three and four.

Eroshevich’s second of three TD passes went for 42 yards to Vielandi, and Greene capped the 33-point first-half following a 62-yard TD connection from Eroshevich to Vielandi.

“We did everything that we wanted to do, and it was nice, for sure, to have a complete game,” Gorton said.
