NORWICH – Saint Bartholomew’s Church of Norwich is thrilled to announce the celebration of its 100th Anniversary with a special celebration Mass at 4 p.m., on Saturday, October 28.
The special Mass will take place on Saturday, October 28 at St. Bartholomew’s church on the corner of Silver and Main Street in the city of Norwich.
For a century, Saint Bartholomew’s has been a beacon of hope and a source of spiritual inspiration for the Norwich community. In honor of this remarkable milestone, the church invites all members, past and present, as well as the wider community, to join the celebration.
What started as a small mission church in 1919 was canonically established on November 1, 1923, and soon afterwards what was commonly referred to in the Norwich community as the “Little Cathedral” was built. The Mass is a testament of the church's legacy and its mission to serve the community. Bishop Douglas Lucia will be present for the service.
Along with Bishop Lucia, other past religious members with a connection to the congregation have been invited to attend the celebration. St. Bartholomew’s is pleased to welcome current members as well as the local community to celebrate this milestone with them.
Another highlight of the anniversary celebrations is the famous Annual Spaghetti Supper taking place next door to the church at the Parish Center. This communal feast is a time-honored tradition at Saint Bartholomew’s, bringing friends and neighbors together to share a meal and create cherished memories. The menu will feature a mouthwatering selection of spaghetti, fresh sauce, homemade meatballs, and an array of delicious desserts. The spaghetti supper takes place Friday, October 27 and Saturday, October 28 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. each night. The cost is $14 per person at the door and $10 for children 12 and under. Hundreds are expected to attend both nights. Take-out is available for those that would like their meal to go.
In addition, a special historical exhibit showcasing the church's evolution over the last century, with photographs, artifacts, and stories of the church's past will be on display in the newly renovated history room located at the Parish Center. A booklet highlighting the architectural features of the church will be for sale in the history room. For additional information on any of the activities taking place all are welcome to contact the church office at 607-337-2215.
