HERKIMER – Three local Chenango County alums and athletes have just finished their first season playing soccer at the collegiate level. Kadence York, Sarah Davis, and Cassidy Will have all made impacts on this year’s Herkimer Community College’s women’s soccer team.
The Herkimer Generals girls soccer team made it to the Region 3B finals, but suffered a heart-breaking 3-2 loss to Onondaga Community College. The Generals finished with a 11-2-2 record and went 5-0 in their conference. All three local county athletes contributed well to the team’s great season.
Kadence York, a Unadilla Valley alum, started in nine games this season, where she scored four goals and seven assists. Sarah Davis, who graduated from Norwich High School, made 11 starts, where she scored four goals, including one game-winner, and had five assists.
Cassidy Will, an Otselic Valley alum, was among a total of four goalkeepers this season, so she had to split time. She started eight games in goal, where she led the Generals with 39 saves and two shutouts with a 5-1-1 record. She also picked up an assist this season as well.
While these three outstanding athletes went to different high schools, they are happy to be together again and have been great friends since playing on the Chenango Chargers team. All three were also named on the Mountain Valley Conference All-Conference first-team and their head coach Damon Neish was named coach of the year.
Congratulations to all.
