MORRIS – The Otsego County Fair Association held is annual stockholders meeting on Saturday, November 4, at the Pittsfield Fire Department. Several reports were presented including the information that 2024 fair will be one of the NYS fairs competing in the Ag Awareness Award Program. New updates will include replacing the front gates, the dairy barn No. 1 has been torn down and a new barn is being built, and grants have been submitted. The farm and household antiques building had 400 visitors recorded. The collections displays were moved to the Canham Building which worked very well for visitors to view. The Grange building had Grange displays and seven entertainment numbers. The sales of ice cream, frozen bananas and milk help with programming during the week. The financial statements for the year were presented and approved. Election of Directors for three years are Kelly Darragh, Duane Spoor, Dolores Dibble, Mike Wilcox and Mark Johnson. Next year’s fair will be held July 30 through August 4.
Plans are underway for the Annual Holiday of Lights to be held at the Fairgrounds. Dates will be December 14, 15 and 16 and December 18, 19, 20, 21, 22 and 23 from 6 to 8 p.m. each night. Santa will be presenting gifts to the children and the Grinch will also be attending. There will be any new displays, a walk through Santa’s Village including General Store, Apparel Store, and Kissing Bridge, Children are encouraged to write letters to Santa to be mailed at the Post Office. Wagon Rides will be available on December 16 and 23 only.
