BAINBRIDGE – Coming off a strong 2022 season, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ basketball team kicked off its 2023-2024 season with a 69-40 win over non-league opponent Gilbertsville-Mount Upton (GMU). A game where the Bobcats’ top senior forward went full force in just the first game of the season.

B-G’s James Hogroian, a 2022-2023 MAC first-team all-star, led the charge with 36 points, including going 4-for-6 at the free-throw line. He had 23 points alone in the first half. Michael Lipani finished with 11 points and along with teammate Isaiah Hampton, went 3-for-5 at the line. Hampton finished with nine points. Overall, B-G was 10-for-16 at the line (62 percent).

Coach Kevin Wehrli was impressed at how his team stayed competitive with GMU and is looking forward to another great season ahead.

“The kids are very competitive overall and that is huge to us improving as a ball club,” Wehrli said.

B-G will host neighboring Afton on Thursday at 7 p.m.
