NORWICH — Santa Claus is coming to town and once again he will be available to take pictures with pets in his igloo on Broad Street in downtown Norwich.
Those with furry family members can bring their pets down to Santa's Igloo on Wednesday, December 6 from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday, December 9 from 10 a.m. to noon to take photos with Santa Claus.
"We’re super excited about it," said Norwich Business Improvement District (BID) Board Member Mindy Chawgo. "We figured a night time would be good for some people and we figured a morning would be good for others. So we did it the two different times hoping to accommodate more people."
The event is a new addition to the BID's repertoire. It was held for the first time last year, and Chawgo said it was a hit with Chenango County residents.
All pets are welcome, and photos can be taken inside or outside the igloo. Although Santa saw lots of dogs and cats last year, Chawgo said one family brought down their goats for the event.
Pet owners should bring their smartphone to snap a picture, but those that don't have a phone can still get a picture taken and sent to them.
For dogs, treats will be provided by Kacie and Company, with more available for purchase. Santa photos with pets are completely free, but the BID will be collecting donations to benefit the Chenango SPCA.
"Feel free if they want to dress their pets up or whatever. It should be a fun couple of days," said BID Administrator Tracy Chawgo. "We’re not going to make any appointments or anything, just show up and we’ll get your picture taken for you. We’re trying to make it as easy on everybody as we possibly can."
