CHENANGO COUNTY – Haleigh Fisher, a local senior at Sherburne-Earlville high school, recently signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Division II’s Caldwell University, located in New Jersey. Along with studying biology, Fisher landed a spot on the Cougars softball team in part of her efforts with summer travel ball and on the high school softball team. She has been an active member of the CNY Monsters travel ball team, where she posted an impressive 1.80 ERA, 124 strikeouts, 34 walks, and three no-hitters in 125.9 innings pitched this past summer.
Fisher also pitched for the Unadilla Valley Storm softball team in the 2023 spring season after S-E couldn’t field a team. She led the Storm to sectionals this past season, where she accomplished 100 career strikeouts from her time on both the Marauders and short stint on UV and tossed a no-hitter against Oxford in late April.
She also gives back to the local community with volunteering her time in helping out the Sherburne Little League program in the offseason, where she helps the youth pitchers work on their technique and form. She is looking forward to doing the same when the team meets again.
Fisher’s message to the local area kids is anything is possible no matter where you live, you just have to work for it.
Congratulations, Haleigh!
