OXFORD — Imagine sitting down with friends and family this holiday season and really knowing where all the food you are about to share came from because you had been able to shake the hand of the farmer or baker or beekeeper who raised or produced the bounty in front of you. That’s the gift of living in an agricultural community like ours.
All of that bounty for your holiday meals can be found at this Saturday's indoor Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market. From the pork, beef, lamb, or chicken you prepare to the breads, pies, and cookies baked fresh for you, from the breakfast eggs you scramble to the syrup to top your pancakes.
From the potholders you serve with and the apron you wipe your hands on, to the balsam wreath on your front door, or the one-of-a-kind Bonnie Gale willow Christmas tree that lights up your living room. And the many many beautiful artisan crafts to be given or received, including unique ornaments, hard carved and turned wooden bowls and spoons, cozy wool and alpaca items, pottery pieces, and hand-sewn items for the kitchen. Every bit of it brought to you by local hands. This is the magic brought to us by our area farmers’ markets.
Stop by the Oxford Winter Farmers’ Market this Saturday for the last indoor Market before the end of the year from 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall of the United Church of Oxford, located at 16 Fort Hill Park (enter on Merchant Street, across from the Middle School parking lot, where there is plenty of parking).
