SOUTH OTSELIC - It was an intense finish to the Oxford Blachawks-Otselic Valley Vikings boys basketball game on Friday night. Both Chenango County teams kicked off their season opener competitively with Oxford scoring the game-winner with 15 seconds left in regulation to win 44-43.

Oxford took a brief 20-19 lead at halftime before OV came out strong in the third quarter with 16 points.However, the fourth quarter brought on several lead changes with Oxford taking the overall advantage late in the game.

Donovan Rickard led the Blackhawks with 13 points aside from Jared Sheridan's 11. Senior Braeden Davis led OV with 15 points as Owen Davis had seven points in the loss.

Oxford (1-0) hosts Marathon on Tuesday at 7 p.m. while OV (0-1) heads to DeRuyter tonight (Monday) at 7 p.m.
