Bowling: UV/Norwich Tops Greene/Oxford

NEW BERLIN – The 2023 MAC bowling season is back with Unadilla Valley returning as the MAC and sectional champions, and Greene-Oxford facing off. UV has a new look this season as they’ve combined with Norwich, bringing even more talent to the experienced team.

The UV girls defeated Greene-Oxford 2759-2375. Brynn Grant and Phalen Hill led the Storm while Norwich’s Andie Mucha returned for her senior season. Mucha bowled a 475 in her first start with UV. Grant bowled a team-high 629 series, including a 246 in the first of three games. Hill finished behind her with a 626 series, bowling her highest game of a 218.

Lily Baxter and Briana Fowlston returned strong for Greene/Oxford. Baxter led the team with a 525 series with a high game of a 191 while Fowlston had a 202 in her second game to finish with a 520 series.

The UV/Norwich boys dominated in their first outing of the season, defeating Greene/Oxford 3220-2599. Adding Norwich’s Tyler Bates and Dawson Robinson to their lineup only made the Storm stronger and has already set up a battle for top bowler this year. Jacob Prentice, coming off his 2022 states appearance, excelled with a 696 series with a whopping 258 in the first game. Dawson Robinson wasn’t far off as he finished with a 695 series with a 255 in the second of three games.

Greene/Oxford’s Aiden Roth and Nick Flynn earned the top two spots with Roth bowling a team-high 636 series, starting out hot with a 244 game. Flynn finished with a 629 series, including bowling two 235 games in a row.

UV/Norwich will participate in the Bainbridge-Guilford tip-off tournament, starting on this Saturday at 10 a.m. Greene/Oxford hosts Hancock at their own Greene Bowlodrome on Wednesday, Dec 13 at 3:45 p.m.
