AFTON – The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats bowling team began its 2023 season against Afton/Harpursville on Wednesday afternoon. The boys swept the Crimson Knights 4-0 while Afton/Harpursville picked up the 3-1 win over the Bobcats’ girls’ team.
The B-G boys were led by captains Collin Dicks and Ryan Larsen who both finished with a 612 series. Larsen bowled a team-high 279 in the first of three games while Dicks’ highest was a 219 in the second game. Afton/Harpursville’s top bowler was Aidan Smith who bowled a 510 series with a 190 in the second game.
The girls’ match was very close, within a 12-point margin as the Crimson Knights won 1376-1364. Afton/Harpursville also had five girls compared to B-G’s four dedicated ladies. Despite the loss, Railey Odell led all female bowlers with a 402 series, including a 168 in the first game. Gracie Bomboy led Afton/Harpursville with a 384 series with a 161 in the first game.
B-G hosts the kick off classic tournament on Friday and Saturday at their own Galaxy Bowl with the boys starting Friday at 3 p.m. and the girls on Saturday at 10 a.m. Afton/Harpursville travels to Deposit on Tuesday, Dec 12 at 3:45 p.m.
