NORWICH — U.S. Representative Marc Molinaro (NY-19) recently announced over $3.5 million in federal funding will be disbursed to nine airports in Upstate New York. Norwich based airport Lt. Warren E. Eaton was one of the nine and will receive $144,000.
Rep. Molinaro said, “I am pleased to announce these significant investments in airports across Upstate New York. This funding will support important infrastructure improvements to ensure our local airports remain competitive and continue to meet needs of travelers.”
Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport Administrator Shane Butler said, “This is our annual allotment as related to the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law (BIL). As a General Aviation (GA) airport, this is a boiler plate amount similar to other airports in size.”
He said the $144,000 will be utilized as part of their Airport Weather Observation System (AWOS) Equipment Replacement.
“We saved our allotment from last year and are combining it with this year’s allotment,” Butler added. “We will be opening bids today.”
Lt. Warren E. Eaton Airport is a county-owned, general aviation airport that supports general maintenance and administration from fees, fuel sales, and Airport Trust earnings.
