MOUNT MARKHAM – Coming off two close wins, the Sherburne-Earlville Marauders boys basketball team had a bit of a setback in the 57-44 loss to league opponent Mount Markham. S-E struggled in the second quarter alone with just three points scored, which allowed the Mustangs to take an eight-point lead into halftime.
S-E improved in the second half, getting as close to being down just two points from knocking down a few three’s, but Mount Markham went on a big run and posted 24 points in the final eight minutes of play.
The Marauders were led by senior Aaron Key with a team-high 13 points, along with Dilen Maceda with 10 points. Nick Hull had eight points while Darren Miles hit two back-to-back three’s to finish with six points in the loss.
S-E (3-3) hosts Sauquoit Valley on Thursday at 7 p.m.
