NORWICH – After competing in tournaments to start the 2023 season, the Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling team hosted Windsor on Tuesday night. The match was decided in an extra 285 weight class dual, which Windsor won to take the overall victory.

Windsor picked up three forfeits as Norwich picked up one with Evan Heath in the 131 weight class before the remaining matches took place. Maverick Beckwith opened up the real scoring with a 2:30 pin in the 116 class before teammate Evan Meek took down Windsor’s Gabe Taylor in a quick 1:25.

Regan Roach stayed hot with his fourth consecutive win as he earned the 6-2 decision against Mason Colgan in the 138 weight class. Braden Hagenbuch (170 lbs) and Patrick White (285 lbs) both won their respective matches for Norwich as well.

Cyrus Graham faced off against Windsor’s Xavier Holbert in the 285 weight class extras, but was pinned in 1:20.

Norwich hosts local Bainbridge-Guilford/Afton/Harpursville on Thursday at 6:30 p.m.
