NORWICH – After winning the Sherburne-Earlville girls tip-off tournament last weekend, the Norwich Purple Tornado girls basketball team resumed play against league opponent Chenango Forks. Norwich snapped a three-game winning streak with a 48-23 deficit on Wednesday night.

Both teams were off to a slow start in the first quarter as Norwich pushed a one-point 7-6 lead after the first eight minutes. However, it was the only lead they saw because Chenango Forks kicked into high gear for the remainder of the contest and continued to limit the Purple Tornado to single digit scoring.

Norwich, shorthanded without three players, continue to see leadership from Josey Ryan and Emma Urgo. Ryan led the team with 12 points while Urgo finished with four and Kerrigan Reid knocked down a three to have three points on the night.

Norwich (3-1) looks to quickly bounce back at Chenango Valley on Saturday at 1:45 p.m.
