EAST CATO - The Sherburne-Earlville Marauders and the Norwich Purple Tornado wrestling teams competed in the Cato-Meridan Blue Devil Duals on Saturday, featuring other area schools such as East Syracuse-Minoa, Jordan-Elbridge, Rome Free Academy, and Auburn. S-E won the duals with defeating all five teams, including defeating Norwich 60-15. Norwich won three of five matches on the day to earn third place.

S-E's Trenton Anderson received the most outstanding wrestler award of the tournament. The seventh grader earned two wins in the 124 weight class, including a 1:59 pin against Norwich's Evan Meek. Junior leader Landon Andrade won both matches he competed in to hold an 11-1 record. Andrade pinned Norwich's Patrick White for the second time this season in a time of 2:25. Aiden Kiehn, Cameron Mason, and Nick Miller all won three matches on the day while Manny Hollins had two wins in the 131 weight class. Jackson Moore and Richie Fuller also won the only match they competed in for their respective weight classes.

After a tough match at home on Thursday, where he came out on top, Maverick Beckwith picked up three wins in Saturday's duals. The freshman pinned S-E's Aiden Shreve in 2:22. Braden Reid had four hard fought matches in the 215 weight class, including a tough match against S-E's Cody Clarkson, where he achieved the pin in 5:45. Regan Roach continues to roll through a strong final season as he came away with four wins on the day. He earned two decision wins and two pin wins, but lost to Jordan-Elbridge's Dylan Nolan in a 1:06 pin and currently has a 12-3 record.

Jaxson Shaver and Patrick White also picked up wins for Norwich. Shaver won his only match in the 116 weight class against Auburn's Ella Savage in an 8-2 decision. Despite the loss to Landon Andrade, Patrick White won his match against Jordan-Elbridge's Noah White with a pin in 3:24.

Norwich and S-E both continue regularly scheduled matches this upcoming week. Norwich heads to Oneonta on Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. while S-E hosts Mount Markham on Wednesday at 6 p.m.
