DOWNSVILLE - The Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys basketball team is fired up after defeating Walton/Downsville 53-40 on Friday. The Bobcats are now 5-2 and have played more games than any other local Chenango County team and any other MAC league team.
B-G held Walton/Downsville to just 11 points in the first half, which seemed unusal for a team that only came into the contest with one loss, but the Bobcats' defense played fierce to allow its offense to strike with a 19-11 halftime lead. The offensive efforts would only continue in the second half, even with Walton/Downsville catching up. B-G was solid at the free-throw line, making 12-of-17 shots, succeeding with 70 percent.
The Bobcats also had a dominant performance from top forward James Hogroian. Hogroian controlled this game as he excelled with 30 points, pushing 10 points in the third quarter and went six-for-eight at the free-throw line. Isaiah Hampton finished with 11 points while Arien Sherman hit a three to settle for seven points in the win.
B-G looks for its second MAC league win as they host Greene on Friday at 7:15 p.m.
