CHENANGO VALLEY – On Dec. 8, the Norwich boys varsity swim team traveled down to one of the top teams in section IV swimming, Chenango Valley for their second dual of the season. The Norwich team preformed very well as did Chenango Valley. Norwich had six personal best times (PB) done with only four swimmers competing.
The team was led by Kris Deuel with a first place finish in the 100yd breaststroke with a PB of 1:13.84 and a second place finish in the 200yd IM with a PB of 2:25.56. Nate Strauch was first in the 200yd freestyle with a PB of 2:12.95. Nate also came in second place in the 100yd freestyle with a time of 1:01.59.
Amon Oliver finished fourth in the 200yd freestyle with a PB of 2:22.62 and fourth in the 100 backstroke with a PB of 1:18.92. Rounding out the scoring for Norwich was Sharom Thinagaran with a PB of 43.49 for fourth place.
CV's plan for the meet was to limited their top swimmers to three relays and one individual event to see if they could get State meet qualifying times done. During the meet, CV qualified in five events. They qualified in the 200 medal relay with a time of 1:38.21, 200 IM with a 1:57.32, 50 freestyle in 22.01, 200 free relay in a 1:29.46 and the 400 free relay in a 3:18.50. After last Tuesday’s meet against Waverly was postponed, Norwich will host Owego this evening,Tuesday Dec. 19 at the high school pool, starting at 5:30 p.m.
