SHERBURNE – On December 28, in the Village of Sherburne, the Chenango County Sheriff's Office charged two people with intent to sell drugs following a traffic stop where police reported discovering a stolen handgun and drugs.
Chenango County Sheriff Ernest R. Cutting reported that members of the Chenango County Sheriff’s Office Detective and Road Patrol Divisions were conducting a “High Visibility Engagement Campaign” in the Village of Sherburne.
Police said a patrol observed a sedan traveling in the village and conducted a traffic stop for numerous vehicle and traffic law violations.
During the investigation of the traffic stop a bong used to smoke methamphetamine was found and a further search of the vehicle was conducted.
Police report finding more than three ounces of methamphetamine, along with packaging material, scales, and a large sum of money.
Cutting said the findings implied the sale and distribution of drugs.
A loaded handgun was also located, which was previously reported stolen in June of this year.
The driver and passenger of the vehicle were both arrested for multiple felonies and misdemeanor crimes.
Daniel D. Knochenmus, 41, Sherburne resident, is charged with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th degree intent to sell. He was also charged with 3rd degree criminal possession of a weapon and 4th degree criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies. Knochenmus was also charged with criminal use of drugs paraphernalia for the possession of digital scales and packaging materials, a misdemeanor.
Bonnie J. Ramsey, 50, Sherburne resident, is charged with 2nd, 3rd, 4th, and 5th degree intent to sell. Ramsey is also charged with 4th degree criminal possession of stolen property, all felonies. She was also charged with 3rd degree criminal possession of a weapon and criminal use of drugs paraphernalia, misdemeanors.
Both defendants were remanded to the Chenango County Correctional Facility where they are being held on no bail until they can appear in Chenango County Court.
