GREENE – After coming off playing in the UV Holiday Tournament, the Greene Trojans and the Unadilla Valley Storm girls’ basketball teams faced off in a regular MAC league game. The Trojans picked up their sixth win of the season and second against UV thus far with a 47-21 victory.
Greene remained consistent throughout the contest, pushing with heavy pressure on defense to hold the Storm to a total of 12 points combined in the first three quarters. During those efforts, Greene built up a steady lead offensively. UV’s best efforts came in the final eight minutes, led by Jaiden Schrag and Natalie Crandall, who helped the Storm go a perfect six-for-six at the foul line.
Greene was led by Lyla Biefeldt who knocked in four threes to finish with a team-high of 16 points. Josie Dutcher had two threes for eight points as Abby Yahner finished with seven points in the win.
UV’s Natalie Crandall achieved eight points, including six in the final eight minutes while Jaiden Schrag had six points from the second half alone in the loss.
Both teams will be facing Oxford in their next scheduled game. Greene hosts Oxford on Friday at 7:15 p.m. while UV hosts the Blackhawks on Tuesday at 7:15 p.m.
