NORWICH – After picking up two wins in the UV holiday tournament, the Norwich Purple Tornado boys' basketball team settled back into their STAC league schedule. Norwich took on Windsor on Friday night, coming away with a 62-41 victory. The win was Norwich's fifth of the season.

Both teams came out rather slowly on the drive to the basket, but were quick to rebound the ball under the basket. Norwich picked up the pace and settled in with 20 points in the first quarter. However, their offense slowed down before halftime, allowing Windsor to only be down by seven (27-20) at the break.

Norwich regained focus and control in the second half and began to build a 20 point lead late in the contest. Mitchell Collins and Wyatt Thornton provided the long ball as Steven Dowdall stole and drove to the basket. Jacob Morris also laid down a few blocks on defense to help Dowdall steal the ball. Colin Olds and Graham Burton were the height of the team, where they helped with rebounds. Kassen Stubb was a great asset to the offense.

Dowdall led the Purple Tornado with 17 points with great efforts in the first and third quarters. Mitchell Collins had 11 points, including three three-pointers while Stubb and Olds both finished with 10 points in the win.

Norwich improves to 5-4 and will head to rival Oneonta on Tuesday at 7:45 p.m.
