NEW BERLIN – Coming off a tight game against Oxford, the Bainbridge-Guilford Bobcats boys’ basketball team traveled to Unadilla Valley, in which was yet another close one. UV threatened late in the contest, but B-G held on to a 58-50 victory. B-G improves to 7-3 on the season and are 3-1 in the MAC standings, sitting behind Delhi and Greene.
Both teams came out strong in the first eight minutes, but B-G pushed themselves in the second quarter with 22 points to take a 37-31 lead at halftime. Second quarter efforts were fierce for the Bobcats as Tim Kinter fired in two three’s. The Bobcats only continued to play consistent in the third quarter and even held UV to seven points. However, the lead was cut late in the fourth quarter as UV’s Haywood Edwards and Denzel Peter banked a few three-pointers. B-G was able to hang on to the victory, especially due to third quarter efforts.
James Hogroian led the Bobcats with 19 points, coming off a 30-point game against Oxford, and scored eight points alone in the third quarter. Isaiah Hampton finished behind him with 11 points while Kinter and Michael Lipani had eight points each in the win.
Denzel Peter had 13 points for the Storm as Haywood Edwards followed pursuit with 12 points in the loss.
B-G (7-3) hosts Delhi on Friday at 7:15 p.m. while UV hosts Unatego/Franklin on Saturday at 6 p.m.
